I knew that his music was "depressing" before I'd heard any. I feel sorry now for anyone like that; his songs are some of the only things I can listen to sometimes when I am depressed. Yes some of them sting but they all elevate my puny emotions to the level of art, and they remind me I'm not alone.

I can say similar about the music of Kirsty MacColl and the writings of Sarah Kane. For them both to be taken young really hurts.
